Shmuela's Story

An animal loving police officer named Ayelet came across a wounded mare who's back leg was badly cut, wandering near a busy road close to Samuel the prophet's Grave.

Despite the authority's indifference Ayelet wouldn't leave the poor animal without care, and eventually word about this donkey got to Pegasus.

When we arrived we couldn't find her but didn't give up and continued looking for quite a while.

Eventually we found her in a field, her bleeding injured leg held up high in the air.

We named her Shmuela and took her directly to the veterinary hospital where her damaged leg was amputated and replaced with a prosthetic one.

Her recovery took two weeks, but unfortunately the injury didn't heal properly and the veterinarian decided another surgery was necessary.

Shmuela went through her second operation which went very well. Her leg had healed and she is now managing very nicely.
